Samperiniq
Watercolor and acrylic on paper
45x30"
Samperiníq knows what plants could heal, what amulets could bring you luck and love, and how to read your hand. His mother gave him away when he was a kid, and he survived the violent period that Colombia went through. Samperiníq belongs to the Wayuu culture, a native american ethnic group that still exists in La Guajira, the Colombian desert. They are known for the richness of the colors they use in their bags and clothing.
